Yeah - everytime there was a cash for clunkers piece on the new, you could see several XJs. I kept mine though and am now up to 70,000 miles. The only repairs I've done lately are a pair of liftgate struts. The old ones were useless in the cold.

Great article. True statements about the Jeep Cherokee. Your Cherokee is a baby at 63000 miles. You should be able to easily triple the mileage without any trouble if you maintain it well. I plan on driving mine well over 200000 miles. I hope you aren't one of the many who took the cash for clunker challenge last summer. It is sad to see so many dismantled Jeeps in the junk yard.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy many more miles with your Jeep.

Cool stuff, but the practical version of this has been in flight for many years now, and a 2 seater is in the works and might be aided by NASA research.

Usually the term "innovation" refers to ideas that have survived the 'roll-up' process and have reached the 'implementation' phase. However, many great ideas never see the light of day not because they aren't good ideas, but because of a lack of resources/time/money to implement them right now. Also, a good idea for the future might not make sense today. Take for example of the electric car. It's an idea that's been around for ages but has never really taken off for a multitude of reasons.

inovation comes from creativity, and for sure there would be mistakes rolling up the idea into a considarable thing.. so does that mean the mistakes encountered along the idea is part of inovation.?

Excellent Point other Patrick. My wife just a watch with a light, compass, magnifying glass and other digital watch features from a company called ibeam (www.ibeamtime.com). It's actually pretty useful having a flashlight on your watch!

seldom do i agree with cumberford, but he hit it with this one, albeit with some different reasoning than i. the XJ is a great, utilitarian vehicle. they drive nicely, are reliable, not fussy nor pretentious and work surprisingly well in adverse conditions. the shape is good today as it was when introduced, and by george, theyre just fun.

That whole interaction must be even more surreal, knowing that just weeks after that interaction, he was a former GM employee as well!
